Christmas Tree

  • Real or Artificial Christmas Tree?

    Types of Real Christmas Tree

This is the ‘original’ Christmas tree and for some people the only tree. The Norway is a beautiful tree when tended to properly. But, because it looses its needles people shy away. Needle retention can be helped by leaving the tree outside for as long as possible and then making sure a water retaining stand is used so it can be watered every day. Commercial needle holding sprays are not very effective. The Norway spruce make wonderful outside display trees.

The Noble Fir is often classed as THE Christmas tree. It has thick, soft, blue-green needles that have excellent needle retention properties and a beautiful fragrance. Noble firs are a very heavy tree and this is due to the need to trim heavily to gain the fullness and shape

    Nordman Fir Luxury Gold Star
The Nordman Fir is the most popular Christmas tree in the UK, one of the reasons being that it has a lovely symmetrical shape, with strong, full and bushy branches from bottom to tip. No sparse, gappy bits! The Gold Star Nordman like all Nordmans has fantastic needle retention, mid green, glossy needles and soft to touch.

    Norway Spruce

    Fraser Fir
This is the most favoured tree in America and is becoming increasingly popular over here due to the great needle retention and the lovely fresh citrus fragrance. The shiny dark flat green needles are short and soft, an ideal tree for all members of the family to decorate. The leaders on the Fraser Firs can sometimes be slightly squint which adds to the character of the tree and is generally a narrow tree making it ideal where space is at a premium.

Artificial Christmas Tree Would you prefer an artificial christmas tree? An artificial tree can save you money in the long run as year after year it can be stored in the loft, you also don’t have the fear of losing all the needles before christmas day. The other benefit of an artificial tree is that you could opt for more of a modern design of an all black or white tree.  Some artificial trees already come with the lights already installed so no more arguments and mess trying to unravel a never ending knot!
