Step Into Christmas
Merry Christmas – Stepping into Christmas
Over the years the annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ has become overwhelmed and evolved into a month long prepartion and frantic organisation to have the perfect christmas holiday surrounded by our family and friends. By mid-December, most homes will also be decorated with Christmas trees, coloured lights and decorations around the rooms.
Royalty helped popularize the tree in the UK by decorating the first Christmas tree at Windsor Castle which Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, decorated with candles, candies, fruits, and gingerbread. Glass baubles were available and the first electric lights were patented in 1882. The beauty of the season is expressed in the tradition of bringing out the ornaments to hang on the tree each year, remembering which ornament was added to the collection in what year, bringing back to memories of years past. Some memories holding joy, some even sadness, but each holding on to love. Christmas ornaments bring the nostalgic element to Christmas, the love and warmth of tradition into your home. Today we have so much choice from artificial to real trees, to traditional to modern designs, to plain or multicoloured lights. Find inspiration here at Stepping into Christmas Trees.
Sending Christmas Cards
The custom of sending Christmas cards started in Britain in 1840 when the first ‘Penny Post’ public postal deliveries began.
